Multipart supply chain solutions takes warehouse space to a new level
Multipart Supply Chain Solutions has taken warehouse space to a new level, with a mezzanine raised storage platform erected by NSI Projects – the one stop shop for storage systems and industrial equipment.
NSI Projects has been working with Multipart since the summer of 2005 to assess its warehouse needs. Chris Adamson, Head of Operations, Multipart Supply Chain Solutions, approached NSI Projects of Leyland to carry out surveys on the new building and advise on how to make the most of its new 268,000 sq ft site in Chorley, Lancashire.
Cameron Sked, Sales Engineer from NSI, worked with Chris Adamson to put together the specifications for the giant platform, spanning all twelve loading bays and shelving in conjunction with the Construction, Design & Management Regulations (CDM).
Cameron adds, “The scale of the project is impressive. With the floor being over six metres high and nine metres by 19 metres wide, the floor can handle goods of up to 7.5 kn/m”.
By building the new platform, Multipart has gained approximately 15% of additional packing space on both floors and also the extra space to reconfigure the layout of the free-standing shelves.
In addition to the mezzanine floor, NSI Projects supplied Multipart with all the necessary health and safety equipment that was needed to ensure workers would be able to work safely on and around the mezzanine floor. Equipment included two double skin steel staircase enclosures with self supporting ceilings with half an hour fire rating, handrails, edge protection, protective netting and much more.
Chris Adamson said: “This new site will enable us to not only pursue new business opportunities, but help us to continue to provide inspirational service to our existing clients and customers. Working with NSI Projects took the headache out of what was a very demanding time”.
“NSI also looked after the Building Control documents for the development which took a considerable amount of pressure off”, Chris added.
