Building or putting up a mezzanine floor is much easier than you would think, with a little help from us at NSI Projects. Our Mezzanine Floors are modular in design, enabling them to be supplied as low cost mezzanines to the end user.

There are a number of factors to consider in thinking about how to build a mezzanine floor in your premises:

  1. Firstly you will need to determine the loads you wish the floor to support and have a structural engineer calculate the steelwork required, and that the resulting load on your concrete floor is within design tolerances. NSI can do all this for you as part of their professional mezzanine floor installation service
  2. Secondly, you will need to determine the nature of the mezzanine flooring material, usually in 38mm chipboard, either moisture resistant or standard, or an alternative material such as chequerplate steel or steel mesh panels.
  3. Consideration will have to be given to the planning of the floor with regards safe evacuation of personnel (travel distances), what the floor will be used for, how many sets of stairs and whether the mezzanine will be fire rated to the underside. This involves the inclusion of the Building Control Regulations in your planning, a service NSI can undertake on your behalf as part of their professional mezzanine floor service.
  4. You should also determine the ease of installation of mezzanine floors,  particularly the safety of anyone building the floor at height or working below, but also the access of heavy peices of steel mezzanine from a delivery point to the location of build. NSI's quick and easy mezzanine installation service can resolve many of these problems for you. We are professional project managers and are well versed at putting up a mezzanine floor in the most difficult of circumstances. Always ask our advice, we've probabaly come across a situation not unlike yours before, regardless of how complicated a mezzaine build might seem.
  5. Protection of installers working at height on the floor and the use of the correct lifting and access equipment is vital to ensure the safety of the project. Two key areas of Health and Safety risk are the exposed edges created by the "leading edge" as the decking material is laid and to the perimeter of the floor before the handrail is fixed. NSI's method of build and use of skilled installers trained to work at height offers peace of mind for any Directors or managers responsible for the safe installation of the mezzanine floor.
  6. Finally, it would be NSI's strong advice to future-proof the design of your steel mezzanine floor at the very outset - what would be the next  stage in your mezzanine flooring extension or other premises exapnsion, and how can we plan for that now?
